Delicious Ham and Cheese Pinwheels are the ultimate lazy-day appetizer that tastes like you spent hours in the kitchen. Perfectly savory, buttery, and golden-brown, they combine thinly sliced deli ham and melted cheese rolled up into bite-sized swirls. They are the perfect finger food for game days, holiday parties, or a quick weekday lunch. Watch our step-by-step video guide below to master these perfect pinwheels at home.

🍳 Step-by-Step Cooking Instructions

  1. Prep the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. Prep the pan: Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and grease it lightly with cooking spray.
  3. Roll the pastry: Dust your work surface with flour. Roll the puff pastry into a 12-by-16-inch rectangle.
  4. Layer the fillings: Spread the Dijon mustard evenly to the edges. Layer the ham across the pastry, then sprinkle the Gruyère cheese on top. Season with black pepper.
  5. Roll and slice: Start at one short end and tightly roll the pastry into a log. Trim and discard the uneven ends. Cut the log into 20 slices (about 1/2-inch thick each).
  6. Chill: Place the slices onto your prepared baking sheet. Freeze for 5 minutes to firm up the pastry.
  7. Bake: Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the pinwheels are golden brown and puffed.
  8. Serve: Garnish with fresh chives. Serve warm or at room temperature
