🛒 Ingredients for Pancit
🍳 Step-by-Step Cooking Instructions
- Sauté the Aromatics and Pork : Heat the vegetable oil over medium heat in a deep pan or a wok. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant. Add the thinly sliced pork loin and a pinch of salt. Stir-fry for about 5 minutes until the pork is fully cooked.
- Cook the Vegetables and Shrimp : Add the carrot, green beans, cabbage, shrimp, and 3 tablespoons of soy sauce to the pan. Stir well to combine all ingredients. Cook over medium-high heat for about 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender yet still slightly crisp and the shrimp is cooked through.
- Prepare the Noodles : While the vegetables and proteins are cooking, prepare the egg noodles according to the package directions. This typically takes about 3 to 4 minutes. Drain the noodles thoroughly.
- Combine and Season : Add the drained noodles to the wok. Toss everything together until well incorporated. Taste the dish, then toss in the remaining 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil.
- Garnish and Serve : Remove from heat, sprinkle the sliced green onions over the top, and serve warm with lime quarters on the side.
📝 Recipe Notes & Pro Tips
- Noodle Texture : Keep a close eye on the egg noodles during their quick boil. Because they will be tossed into a hot pan with the vegetables, keeping them slightly al dente ensures they do not get mushy when combined.
- Prep Work : Pancit comes together very quickly once the heat is on. Slice all your vegetables, pork, and aromatics before you start cooking so you can easily add them to the wok without burning anything.
- Citrus Balance : Squeezing the fresh lime over the dish right before eating cuts through the richness of the pork and soy sauce, bringing out the bright, traditional flavors of the dish.
